The programme is offered both on campus in Skellefteå and remotely, with all teaching conducted in English.

The first term is intensive, offering a deep dive into fundamental security for computer networks, systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud services. You will learn how to protect these technologies from cyber threats and develop a strong technical foundation. Following this, the focus shifts to secure programming and how AI algorithms can be used to create advanced security solutions.

In the second term, you will explore how to integrate and implement security measures within organisations. You will deepen your understanding of how security can be applied strategically and operationally in different types of businesses. The term concludes with a practical project course, where you will have the opportunity to apply what you've learned, often working with companies.

In the third term, you have the option to specialise in the area of cybersecurity that interests you most. You will tailor your studies by selecting elective courses that align with your specific interests. At the same time, you will prepare for your thesis through courses in ethics, penetration testing, and scientific methods. These courses will equip you with the knowledge and skills to conduct advanced research or development in cybersecurity.

The programme culminates in a thesis project. This is your chance to explore a subject that interests you in greater depth, either by collaborating with a potential employer or a researcher if you aim for an academic career. The thesis often acts as a bridge to your future career and can open doors to exciting opportunities in both industry and research.
