Basics of construction logistics
Construction logistics has long been a non-issue in Northern Sweden and in the world, but with increased material prices, higher wages, lack of resources and demands for sustainable transportation, there is a growing need for professionals to improve their skills in modern working methods, processes and digital tools in construction logistics. This course includes working methods, processes and tools to increase productivity and sustainability on the construction site.

Content of the course
The course includes methods, processes and tools to increase productivity and sustainability on the construction site. The course is based on problem-based learning (PBL) where participants explore the components that constitute effective construction logistics.
Approach
The course is based on the participant working independently on a number of sections (modules) on Canvas by reading texts, watching movies and listening to podcasts, and participating in online discussions. The modules are then discussed in full class on Zoom in four planned sessions. The course ends with an assignment.
The time is distributed as follows:
Self-study (34 hours) where the participant works through a number of sections covering different aspects of construction logistics and its application. The course tool is Canvas.
Online meetings (6 hours) where participants meet for 90 minutes each time. These interactive sessions are moderated by Jarkko Erikshammar and provide the opportunity to ask questions, reflect and share experiences with other course participants. The meetings will take place online via Zoom.
In order to be approved, the following is required
Participation in all online sessions, completion of all sections on Canvas and submission of an individual assignment. This ensures that participants understand and master the course content.
Teachers
Jarkko Erikshammar is passionate about creating an efficient, sustainable and cost-effective construction process through automation and digitalization strategies for construction logistics.
