About the course
In addition to an introduction to information and channel capacity, the course covers the theory and applications of a number of fundamental concepts in digital communication, such as:
- vector representation
- digital modulation (PSK, QAM)
- pulse shapes
- noise
- the matched filter
- Nyquist signalling
- intersymbol interference
- detection
- optimal receivers
- maximum likelihood detection
- performance measures
- dispersive channels
- bit error rate
- OFDM
Compulsory computer exercises in Matlab are included in the course.

- Describe, explain, calculate signal constellations, their energy, and distance properties.
