Course content
Project work is becoming increasingly common in organizations of all sizes and industries. Compared to traditional organizational structures, the project form enables a dynamic approach to business development, for both internal and external assignments. Above all, projects are a successful way of working to achieve challenging business goals. In this course, you will learn the basic concepts and approaches in project management. You will also learn about different perspectives for planning and implementing projects. Based on real cases, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate projects and project activities.
Course structure
The course is mainly conducted in the form of online seminars, on six occasions of two hours each. Between the seminars, participants work on a project case (of which they are part or have experience). Another learning activity is to follow and give feedback on other participants' cases. Each seminar has a different theme and mainly follows different phases of a project's life cycle. The seminars include short lectures, with a focus on discussion and reflection, where the participants' learning process is in focus.
To pass the course
A course certificate is given upon active participation and attendance at least four meetings, covering 40 study hours. There is a possibility for examination (2 credits) based on the participants' case assignment. The case is presented in writing and examined orally, which means an additional 15 study hours, i.e. a total of 55 study hours.
Teachers
Fredrik Backlund is an assistant professor in quality engineering. He mainly teaches project and process management, and team development.
