About the course
The language of instruction is by agreement.
The course is conducted as a distance course over the Internet and contains no compulsory meetings. Student learning takes place through teacher-led lessons, laboratory sessions, self-study, individual and group assignments. By working in groups for a large part of the course, the student learns to collaborate and communicate remotely in project form. During the course, students communicate with classmates and teachers via e-mail, video conferencing and an online learning platform. In this course, Canvas is used to post information, course material and a video conferencing system for distance meetings.
Course content
The course content focuses on how a testing activity should be planned, implemented and documented. As an introduction, areas such as: what a test is and why it is important to test IT systems, general guidelines and methods for testing. The course also covers different test phases and different types of tests. After this introduction to the field, the course delves into test design and test cases. The course focuses on the process of planning and executing tests and on making recommendations to address the identified weaknesses.
At the end of the course you will be able to
- Describe and exemplify the different parts of the testing process
- Use and choose among different techniques for designing test cases
- Describe the roles, competencies and responsibilities associated with different test phases
- Identify and document priorities and risks
- Conduct tests
- Document the different phases of the test process and its results (test plan, test case and test report).
