Understanding how companies can use history and heritage
There are many companies that base their marketing partly on history, such as IKEA, Volvo and CocaCola. The history of companies and organizations is used to strengthen the organization, develop the business and add value to goods and services.
In this course you will learn how companies and organizations can use their history in their communication and marketing, to build brands and strengthen identities. You will gain an understanding of why organizations and companies value knowledge of their history and links to their cultural heritage, especially in their marketing. You will also learn about the consequences of not working with your history.
Exploring the links between business, history and heritage
You will learn to understand the ideas behind using history as a brand. From this, you will discover how business and organizational history and cultural heritage are linked and can be used in marketing strategies. You will also learn how companies have dealt with 'skeletons in the closet' and how to deal with problematic aspects of their past in an ethically acceptable way.
