Between November 21st and 25th, Luleå University of Technology will be transformed into an exuberant creative arena during the Weekend Idea Challenge. Here you compete in teams to develop innovative and innovative solutions to one of Boden's most exciting challenges. It all ends with the competing teams "pitching" their insights and solutions to a jury.
The competition starts with a kickoff on Thursday evening, where you are invited to a welcome dinner and then dive into the challenge. Here you will have access to expert advisors and dedicated representatives from Boden Municipality to guide you through the process. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are then dedicated to the intensive idea development phase, where you work with your teammates to develop your innovative concepts.
On Saturday, you are all invited on a joint trip to Boden where you have the opportunity to experience the city and immerse yourself in the challenge.
On Monday evening, it's time to present your ideas and that's also when the winners will be announced.

Who can participate?
The competition is open to all students and PhD students at Luleå University of Technology. You do not need any prior knowledge and the challenge is aimed at all year groups and programs. We strive for a diversity of participating teams to get many different perspectives on the challenge. There are a limited number of places.
How do you sign up?
Teams should be two to five participants and have a team name. The deadline for registration is November 13 at 23:59. You will then find out by November 18 whether your team has been accepted. The registration link is at the top of the page.
When will you find out what the challenge is?
The challenge will be presented by the municipality of Boden at the Kickoff on November 21.
Where does the competition take place?
The competition takes place at Luleå Science Park on Porsön and on your own in your team. You are also invited on a trip to Boden on Saturday.
How much time should you spend and what is mandatory to attend during the competition period?
Mandatory attendance is:
Info meeting with at least one person from the team: November 19 at 12–12.30, online
Kickoff: Thursday, November 21 between 16.30-20, Luleå Science Park, Luleå
Closing event with pitch: Monday, November 25 between 16.30 - about 20, Luleå Science Park, Luleå.
During Friday – Sunday you work on your own as much as you want and need.
Your competition entry must be submitted no later than 13.00 on Monday, November 25 according to a predetermined template.
What support will I get during the competition?
During the competition and before the pitch, you will be supported by experienced advisors and you will also have templates and process and methodological support.
How is the winner chosen?
The winner will be chosen by a jury consisting of representatives from the municipality of Boden. The jury will base its decision on the submitted competition entry and the oral presentation at the closing event. The jury will assess the competition entries based on the criteria of innovation, feasibility and sustainability. The jury's decision cannot be appealed.
How does the prize money work?
The team selected by the jury as the winner of the competition will share SEK 20,000 in prize money, which after taxes and fees is approximately SEK 10,000. The prize money is paid as a consultancy fee.
What are the rights and obligations?
All participants sign an agreement with LTU Business which means that they are expected to follow the rules of the competition and that they are covered by confidentiality that protects both your and the other teams' ideas. After the competition, all participants retain the copyright to their ideas and the Municipality of Boden has acquired the right to use only the winning team's concept via the prize money.
