Luleå
Site visits are visits to different places in Norrbotten and Västerbotten where you, as a student, get a unique insight into the possibilities and future of the municipality.
Join us for a site visit to the Luleå location to talk to SMEs about future skills needs and career opportunities in the technology and energy sector.
During this site visit we will visit:
SSAB
In SSAB's showroom you will learn about SSAB's history, present and future. A guided tour will take you through all parts of the exhibition and give you an insight into SSAB's fantastic steel world. You will also gain insight into future areas of expertise and career opportunities at SSAB
Luleå Energi
Luleå Energi's energy warehouse on Svartön is another stop where you will hear about future energy and skills needs in the industry.
The icebreaker Frej
As a last stop, we stop and visit one of the state icebreakers, where you will hear exciting elements linked to the visit before that show both technical innovation and climate adaptation.
The day ends with a gastronomic food tour of Luleå's restaurants.
Luleå
The world's eyes are on Luleå for many reasons. For example, the city is an important hub in the global, green societal transition that is underway. Hundreds of billions are being invested in new climate-smart industries and innovations focused on the sustainable development of goods and services.
It is home to renewable electricity and a large mineral reserve for processing steel and iron. The new port, soon to be the second largest in Sweden, is also one of the reasons why the area is important for Europe's development and for a new industrialisation. Luleå is also home to a world-leading university, TECH companies and one of Sweden's largest technology parks, Luleå Science Park.
With a natural innovation and a fresh flow of impressions, knowledge and exchanges, sustainable renewal is created. This makes Luleå one of the most important Swedish coastal regions and a national and international role model.
This site visit is organised by the Talent Hub North project where LTU and Luleå municipality collaborate.
