Description
The world asks how graphic designers can contribute to a more just relationship with our world: can the answer go beyond printing less, saving energy or not designing at all?
In this talk, graphic designer Benedetta Crippa shows how the relation between graphic design and sustainability is one yet to be explored. Introducing the concept of “visual sustainability”, she offers a framework for visual practitioners to design not less but better, shifting the focus on the power of aesthetics. The talk takes a new look at sustainability from the perspective of visual practitioners and sketches a way forward: one where we fully own, and intentionally direct, the power of our own craft.
Bio
Benedetta Crippa runs her own graphic design practice in Stockholm and is currently affiliated researcher at LTU for the project The Power of Recognition (Vetenskapsrådet, 2025–2027), co-run with Professor Johanna Lewengard.
