The lecture “How mentors, through a professional approach, can create favourable conditions for student teachers and preschool teacher students during school placement (VFU)” will be based on the professional role. The practical model presented invites reflection on the distinction between being private, personal, and professional.
The model can be used as a supportive approach within one’s own professional practice and leadership, as well as in the role of mentor. It also opens up opportunities for dialogue on how we can further develop our professional approach and professional language together with colleagues within our shared educational mission.
Drawing on collected data that forms the basis of the book VFU: handledning – handbok för lärare, the lecture will describe key aspects of the work involved in creating favourable conditions for student teachers during their school placement (VFU).
Tone Försund is a lecturer at the University of Gothenburg and holds qualifications in behavioural science, drama education, and mentoring. She primarily teaches conflict management, leadership, professionalism, communication, and supervision. For many years, she has been course leader for the university’s mentor training programme and is also involved in the National School Leadership Training Programme, as well as working as a conflict advisor. In addition to her university work, she provides training for staff within municipalities and regions and frequently works in preschools, after-school centres, and schools. Together with Per Fagerström, Tone is the co-author of VFU: handledning – handbok för lärare (2024).
An event organised by the VFU organisation and partner schools/preschools at Luleå University of Technology.
