Universities are often imagined as spaces of critical inquiry and intellectual growth. Yet for many students and staff, they can also be sites of stress, exclusion, and re-traumatization. This lecture introduces trauma-informed higher education as both a pedagogical approach and an institutional commitment.

This lecture introduces trauma-informed higher education as both a pedagogical approach and an institutional commitment.
Sophie Isobel is an Associate Professor of Mental Health at the University of Sydney, and a clinical academic, mental health nurse, and educator. Her work focuses on trauma- and violence-informed care, intergenerational trauma, and improving mental health systems through research, policy, and practice.
The session is relevant for educators, researchers, and administrators interested in equity, student wellbeing, and transformative teaching practices.
