Health research often engages with people’s most difficult experiences, yet traditional methods do not always account for the impacts of trauma on participants, researchers, or the knowledge produced. This seminar introduces trauma-informed research as both an ethical commitment and a methodological approach.
Sophie Isobel is an Associate Professor of Mental Health at the University of Sydney, and a clinical academic, mental health nurse, and educator. Her work focuses on trauma- and violence-informed care, intergenerational trauma, and improving mental health systems through research, policy, and practice.
Relevant for researchers and PhD students, this session offers both practical tools and conceptual frameworks for more responsible and responsive research.
