We invite you to listen to this year’s honorary doctors as they deliver their lectures. Enjoy their fascinating stories in their respective fields of expertise.
Luleå University of Technology has appointed four honorary doctors for 2026:
- Professor Dan M. Frangopol, researcher in life-cycle engineering of civil structures and infrastructure systems,
- Professor H-C Holmberg, researcher in cross‑country skiing and Olympic high‑performance sport,
- Anna Azcárate, actor, director, artistic leader and educator, and
- Professor Robert W. Orttung, researcher in sustainability, political science and Arctic studies.
The honorary doctors will be conferred at Luleå University of Technology’s Academic Ceremony on November 14. On Friday, November 13, they will deliver their honorary doctorate lectures.

08:30–12:00 Four honorary doctorate lectures, including a break.

Good to Know
The lectures are open to the public; no advance registration is required.
Outerwear and large bags can be left in a locked room adjacent to the lecture hall.
The lectures will be recorded and made available for viewing afterward on the LTU website. Due to the recordings, the doors will remain closed while the lectures are in progress.
