This seminar follows the journey from individual snow grains and the forces that bind them together, to the behaviour of snow masses and their relevance for winter road maintenance. Examples include snow accumulation, the construction of snow-covered test tracks for tire testing, and future concepts for snow removal. The presentation highlights how fundamental research on snow mechanics can be translated into practical engineering solutions for safer and more efficient winter roads.
