Mini-courses give high school students an insight into university life
During two days March 29-30, 100 high school students from all over Sweden got to try studying at Luleå University of Technology. The response was very positive from the participants. These popular, so-called mini-courses have existed for several years and are a valued opportunity for high school students to get to know Luleå University of Technology and what it is like to study at a university.
"It has been two fantastically fun days, where we got to meet all the enthusiastic participants and had the opportunity to showcase Luleå University of Technology. Of course, we want you to see us as a first choice when you choose to study further after high school. We are proud of our educations and student life here. But this day is also to arouse interest in university studies in general", Robert Omberg says, student recruitment officer at Luleå University of Technology.
The participants got the opportunity to try different courses such as building a house, eliminating microplastics from rainwater, working with recycling, and testing different materials in Engineering Materials. It was also an opportunity to meet current students, make new friends and perhaps get to know future coursemates and of course to experience a classic student dinner. The event was held on the campus in Luleå and the plan is to do it again next year.
