Norrbotten in Almedalen with conversations that shape the future
After last year's success, the Norra Scen is re-emerging at the politicians' week in Almedalen. Region Norrbotten, LKAB and Luleå University of Technology are opening up an arena for conversations about the future issues and challenges that are at the forefront of Norrbotten, but are the concern of all of Sweden.
The green transition, and the ongoing social transformation, has shifted the center of national development to the north. Development is on some levels raging fast, and on others far too slowly. How do we solve the energy supply, the infrastructure, the skills supply and speed up the housing construction?
Norra Scen – arena for green transition is a joint initiative from Region Norrbotten, LKAB and Luleå University of Technology and was arranged for the first time in the summer of 2022. The aim is to build a meeting place where knowledge is deepened, conversations are held, and networks are built.
– The investments in the north create opportunities and challenges, and as a university we have an important role here. Through our education and research, we can contribute to securing the skills supply and making the green transition both sustainable and profitable. Cooperation between industry, academia and the surrounding society is the key, says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, Vice-chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
In addition to Birgitta Bergvall Kåreborn, Jan Moström, president and CEO of LKAB, Anders Öberg, from the Regional Executive Committee, and several members of parliament, party leaders, EU parliamentarians, media managers, researchers and decision makers from the public sector and the business world are participating, among others.
The entire program can be found at Develop Norrbottens webpage External link. (in Swedish) where the seminars are also live streamed.
