Chess in a dead silent chamber
The popular Youtuber and chess master Anna Cramling has made a film where she tries to play chess in an anechoic chamber. The film was recorded in the Sound & Vibration LAB at Luleå University of Technology and has been widely spread.
Anna Cramling has more than 500,000 followers on Youtube.
"This is great fun and gives us some attention too," says Örjan Johansson, professor in engineering acoustics at Luleå University of Technology.
In 2022, the influencer / Youtuber Gordon Dewoon visited Luleå University of Technology to test the quiet room.
"The anechoic room is used in research that requires a completely silent environment without any sound reflections. For example, it is used to study sound radiation patterns from sound sources. It also provides unique conditions for creating virtual 3D sound. This has been used in listening experiments for studies of our ability to hear where the spunds is coming from, directional hearing and its effects on human performances," says Arne Nykänen, Associate Professor in engineering acoustics at Luleå University of Technology.
