Kampradstiftelsen "We are impressed"
NorrlandsNavet receives the highest marks for its matching with the companies in the north. Lena Fritzén, executive member of the Kamprad Family Foundation is clear: - We are satisfied with the work that is now being done by Luleå University of Technology together with the regional business community.
Kamprad Family Foundation finances Norrlandsnavet, whose purpose is to develop and strengthen small and medium-sized companies in northern Sweden via Luleå University of Technology's expertise. The result after the first three years impresses the Kamprad Family Foundation.
"We are impressed by the way the university has approached the assignment. They have taken it very seriously and really deliver new things to the companies," states a satisfied Lena Fritzén.
"Everything would be based on the companies' needs, that was our basic premise. It was also the first thing the university did, to produce a needs analysis. They have had the ability to turn that perspective around, which can be difficult, many times a university wants to start from its own competences rather than external needs".
She believes that NorrlandsNavet has managed to connect with the entrepreneurs in the northern counties:
"Ultimately, it is about lowering the threshold between business and a university. It is generally difficult to approach a university as an entrepreneur. It is now happening in NorrlandsNavet in a good way. The needs have been identified and are now being met by research and education. The NorrlandsNavet model was a pilot, now the work can be partly extended and partly scaled up":
"We think that the NorrlandsNavet model should be able to be used as a model for future investments. I would like to see multiple hubs spinning in the future".
Fritzén also sees that the project can be linked to the large industries' investments that are taking place now:
"This whole new investment wave in the north is happening now, of course Ingvar didn't know about that when he bequeathed the money. If we can now develop small and medium-sized companies that can deliver to these projects, that has great value in itself. Perhaps with a focus on delivering sustainable services to the new green industry, that more companies can offer climate-smart deliveries".
