Open house attracted curious young people
On November 16, Luleå University of Technology invited to an open house. Close to 1,600 young people from different parts of the country participated. It was a very successful and appreciated day with lectures, fair and other fun activities such as self-driving cars, glass making and pulse measurement.
The pen house event invited curious young people to the Luleå campus, where all campus locations were represented. The purpose of the day is to create interest in our educations, show our activities and start a relationship with the prospective students, to show the breadth of Luleå University of Technology and that the university is inclusive with a nice community.
High school students came by bus from Skellefteå, Boden, Piteå, Arvidsjaur, Älvsbyn, Kalix, Pajala, Övertorneå, Haparanda, Jokkmokk and Luleå. A special invitation with an offer went out to high schools, conscripts and adult education in Norrbotten and northern Västerbotten. A number of young people from southern Sweden also participated in the Open House.
During the day, the young people were treated to inspiring lectures by our students, where they were informed about the difference between university and high school, the university's student life, the advantages of studying in Norrbotten and opportunities to combine elite sports with studies. The lectures were alternated so that the visitors had the opportunity to attend everything that was offered.
They were also invited to a fair where all educations were represented, staffed by students and staff from the programs. The fair also contained student-related information such as study advisors, Stil, corps, sections and associations.
During the day, teachers and study counselors had their own meeting to get and share information as well as the opportunity to build networks with each other and meet the university's study counselors and student recruitment.
