Andreas Larsson appointed Vice Director of the WISE Graduate School
Andreas Larsson has recently been appointed Vice Director of the WISE (Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability) Graduate School, a position that entails responsibility and opportunities to contribute to sustainable development and materials science.
As Deputy Director, Andreas will have the main responsibility for specific tasks, such as developing the mentoring program, planning and implementing study trips and integrating the graduate school's activities with WIRAs (Wallenberg Initiative for Research and Application).
"It feels great to be involved in driving and developing the graduate school forward. Now I'm going to familiarize myself with everything, so I know how I can best support the graduate school's goals and visions. The first step is to get started supporting Professor Anna Delin, who is the director of the WISE graduate school," says Andreas Larsson, Professor and Head of Subject of Applied Physics.
The main goal of the WISE graduate school is to provide PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with training in sustainable development and materials science. The graduate program aims to provide the essential knowledge and skills required to achieve excellence in the interdisciplinary field of materials science for sustainability, while adding value to the existing PhD programs at WISE partner universities.
"I think WISE is investing in many important areas, with interesting challenges that need quick but long-term solutions. This leads to research questions that require this type of targeted funding. It will be exciting to see what the research projects produce and what technological advances they lead to. In addition, the graduate school will train future experts in materials science for sustainability," says Andreas Larsson.
