CH2ESS Research Day showcases groundbreaking hydrogen research and innovation
Luleå University of Technology's hydrogen initiative, the Centre for Hydrogen Energy Systems Sweden (CH2ESS), recently brought together researchers, industry partners, and students to delve into the latest breakthroughs in hydrogen research. The day was marked by discussions and lectures covering the full spectrum of hydrogen applications, from energy systems and production to storage and safety.
“LTU CH2ESS Research Day serves as a valuable platform where our researchers can present their projects and engage in meaningful discussions with both industry and public stakeholders. This event strengthens collaborations within the university’s various disciplines and with external partners, opening doors for future projects and showcasing our expertise in the field,” said Cecilia Wallmark, Director of CH2ESS.
Among the many distinguished speakers was Bruno G. Pollet, Professor at the Hydrogen Research Institute in Canada, who highlighted the global challenges and opportunities in hydrogen research. Participants also attended a series of lectures and had the opportunity to network during a poster exhibition featuring around 20 research projects.
Two of the most notable posters included a study on the role of ports in future energy systems and industrial processes, including by-product export, and a study on ammonia absorption demonstrating that optimised materials can maintain high performance even after multiple absorption and desorption cycles.
The day concluded with a panel discussion where experts emphasised the importance of continued research to integrate hydrogen as a sustainable energy source in the future energy landscape.
“It has been a fantastic day filled with insightful discussions and inspiring presentations. We have not only shared our knowledge but also built stronger bridges between research and industry,” said Cecilia Wallmark.
