Engineers from Luleå University of Technology at the top
Which Master’s programmes in Engineering in Sweden are the best for establishing oneself on the labour market?
Well, those offered by Luleå University of Technology. This is presented in the survey Högskolepejlen 2024, which rates the establishment of engineers with Master’s degrees on the labour market and is conducted by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.
“It is really great that we top the list as to our Master’s programmes in Engineering! Our tradition of close collaboration and student projects with industry forms engineers who are attractive on the labour market and highly employable directly after graduating from higher education”, says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, Vice-Chancellor of Luleå University of Technology.
Engineers with Master’s degrees from Luleå University of Technology are at the very top in Sweden when it comes to succeeding in establishing themselves on the labour market three years after graduation.
This is presented in the survey Högskolepejlen 2024, which is now published and was conducted by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise in collaboration with the public agency Statistics Sweden and the analyst company Ungdomsbarometern exploring youth trends and culture.
The report focuses on programmes that are specifically relevant for the industry, and on the differences in establishment rates that are the most salient between different higher education institutions.
One of the questions in Högskolepejlen is: Which Master’s programmes in Engineering lead to the strongest establishment on the labour market?
The answer is: The programmes in Engineering at Luleå University of Technology lead to the best establishments on the labour market.
In fact, as much as 97% of the engineers with Masters’ degree from Luleå University of Technology establish themselves on the labour market within three years after graduation. Second place is taken by Karlstad University while third place goes to Uppsala University.
A Master’s programme in Engineering combines a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree over five years. The Master’s degree builds on a broader technical basis with an option for the students to specialise in a field of study. The focus of the Bachelor’s degree is more on application and operational skills. As to the latter, Luleå University of Technology ranks high too, occupying the third place after Karlstad University and Halmstad University.
The establishment metric that Högskolepejlen uses is developed by Statistics Sweden and shows the establishment rate three years after graduation. The establishment metric requires a steady income and long-term employment.
