CERN celebrated 70 years of scientific progress at Luleå University of Technology
During a packed day, students and researchers at Luleå University of Technology had a unique opportunity to learn more about CERN's groundbreaking research and career opportunities. The visit was part of the research facility's 70th anniversary tour.
Luleå University of Technology recently proudly hosted an inspiring visit from CERN, the world-leading research facility located on the border between Switzerland and France. During the day, visitors gained a deeper insight into how research at CERN has shaped science and impacted our lives since its inception 70 years ago. The event also provided the opportunity to explore the many career paths that CERN offers to students and researchers in different fields.
The day started with an exhibition where participants could see examples of equipment developed for CERN and meet students and professors directly involved in the work. The exhibition was followed by a lunchtime seminar presenting the many exciting opportunities for students to participate in CERN's research program.

Evening lecture at Vetenskapens Hus
The day was rounded off with a popular science evening event at Vetenskapens Hus in central Luleå. During the lecture, the public was introduced to the latest research from CERN, with a focus on how Swedish researchers contribute to large international projects. The lecture was held in Swedish and attracted a wide audience of science enthusiasts. The popular science element highlighted current research issues in particle physics and accelerator technology, and how new discoveries may change our understanding of the universe.
