Hello Student Union!

As a student at Luleå University of Technology, there are a number of exciting associations to get involved in alongside your studies. Meet the Student Orchestra Luhrarne, which is constantly recruiting and is always open to new members.

Hello student association! Who are you?
"We are Student Orchestra Luhrarne and we are Sweden's northernmost student orchestra! We have existed and played at LTU for 46 years, so ever since 1978. Although it was then called Luleå University of Technology. We are mainly a wind orchestra with comp, but welcome all instruments. We play many different genres of music, from German pop to big band jazz. You can recognize us by our green coats and our cheerful mood."

How often do you meet?
"We meet and rehearse every Monday at 18:30 in A3002. In addition, we have member activities such as luhr parties, team building or Death Race (syjunta)."

What are your public activities?
"We usually have at least one own gig per year that is open to the public. Then you can also see us when we are hired to play at various events around Luleå. Examples of events we have played are Kårernas Valborgsfirande, Av4ningen and National Day for Luleå municipality.If you are lucky, you can also see us when we go around campus and run impropmtu lunch gigs, or as we call them, attack gigs."

How does a student become a member of your organization?
"If you are interested in becoming a member, just show up at one of our rehearsals or contact us on social media. We don't have an audition or admission period, we recruit on a rolling basis and everyone who wants to can join!"

Finally, what is the best thing about your organization?
"The best thing about our organization is of course our lovely luhr green coats! Covered with badges and medals from events or exchanged with other student orchestras / associations. That and the wonderful community and playing music together!"
