How to be cybersecure
October is Cyber Security Month in Sweden and Europe, a good time to think about what you should consider to maintain good cyber security.
Use strong passwords: Create complex passwords that contain a mix of letters, numbers and special characters. Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.
Enable multi-factor authentication: This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification, like a code sent to your phone, in addition to your password.
Keep software up to date: Make sure your operating system, browser and all applications are up to date with the latest security patches.
Be careful with emails and links: Don't open attachments or click on links in emails from unknown senders. Phishing attacks are common and can trick you into giving away sensitive information.
Use anti-virus software: Install and keep your anti-virus software up-to-date to protect against malware.
Back up your data: Regular backups of your important files can protect you against data loss in the event of a cyberattack.
Be careful with public Wi-Fi: Avoid using public Wi-Fi for sensitive transactions. If you must use it, consider using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to encrypt your internet connection.
Educate yourself: Stay informed about the latest threats and cybersecurity best practices. There are many online resources and courses that can help you become more aware of cybersecurity.
