Curious students filled campus Luleå
On November 14, Luleå offered brilliant weather while Luleå University of Technology organized an open house. More than 1500 were pre-registered for an event that attracted curious eyes from both Västerbotten and Norrbotten.
Open House is a recurring tradition where the university invites young people, teachers and study and career counselors to campus Luleå. The purpose of the day is to create interest in our programs, showcase our activities and start a relationship with prospective students.
- The idea is to show the breadth of education that is available here at Luleå University of Technology and show that here is an inclusive and nice community, says Robert Omberg, Head of Student Recruitment at the university.
Packed program
The program included education fairs where, among other things, representatives from education, student sports, unions and sections were in place. There were also activities such as tasting ice cream made quickly from liquid nitrogen, trying out a car simulator and physical challenges from Student Health Services.
During the day, there were also lectures where the curious could learn more about different courses, about what it is like to study at university compared to upper secondary school and about career opportunities after education.
Teachers and student counselors had their own meeting during the day to receive and share information as well as the opportunity to network with each other and meet the university's student counselors and student recruitment.
