Robotics and AI on IVA’s top list
In a testament to cutting-edge innovation and impactful research, four projects from the Robotics and AI team at Luleå University of Technology have been included in the prestigious IVA top 100 list. These projects, addressing key societal and industrial challenges, highlight the team’s expertise and the transformative potential of their technologies.

The four projects tackle diverse technological and societal challenges, reflecting the broad scope of Robotics and AI research. These initiatives span areas such as advancing sustainable practices and circular economy, revolutionizing 6G communication systems, enabling autonomous coordination of robotic fleets in complex environments like deep underground mines, and enhancing industrial processes through AI-driven change detection.
“Together, these technologies demonstrate not only the team's expertise but also our potential to create research results that are able to transform how we live and work, addressing key challenges across industries and society”, George Nikolakopoulos says.
Notably, this marks the sixth consecutive year that the Robotics and AI team’s projects have been featured on the IVA Top 100 List – a powerful acknowledgment of the groundbreaking and impactful research being conducted. This consistent recognition highlights the team’s unwavering commitment to innovation, driving transformative advancements that shape industries and improve lives.
“This is a clear quality stamp for what we are doing in our subject and what impact we are creating in Sweden. It is also a great honour to collaborate with all the talented people in the Robotics and AI subject that are the main drives behind these achievements. The focus of the group is to realise our research directions and start building a better future for all and I believe that this is truly recognised by the Top 100 initiative of IVA”, George Nikolakopoulos says.
