Scholarships for theses on green transition
For the second year, engineering students receive SEK 50,000 each from the Swedish Engineers' Environmental Fund, whose degree project is deemed to have particularly great scientific potential and the possibility of practical application in green transition.
The recipients of the scholarships are students in Luleå University of Technology's civil engineering programs.
"I am impressed by our engineering students who have demonstrated innovative degree projects with great potential for future development. Thanks to the scholarships from the Environmental Fund, they now have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in important projects for the green transition even before they finish their education, says Per Weihed, Pro Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology."
Innovative degree projects
Among the degree projects that receive the funds are a number of innovative projects. Among other things, one is about developing new business models for charging infrastructure at offshore wind farms. Another will explore the possibility of using excess oxygen from Stegra to counteract eutrophication in nearby areas and a third will explore nature-based solutions to regulate extreme stormwater flows in urban environments.
The students will receive dedicated support from the university's innovation office to help identify opportunities and conceptualize the ideas. A workshop will be held in the middle of the project period and a final presentation will be held in June where the scholarship holders will present the results of their theses.
