The Swedish Snowball Fighting Championship was a great success
Tens of thousands of snowballs flew through the air when the Swedish Championship in snowball fights broke loose in Södra hamn, right in the heart of Luleå. After intense battles, quick evasions and the occasional snowy face, a student team once again stood victorious - this time LTU Rockets.
The weekend's weather was made for snowball fights, with hug-friendly snow and a large, excited crowd warming up the atmosphere. The Swedish Championships also coincided with Luleå On Ice, which meant that both competitors and spectators could enjoy a wintry folk festival.
- Looking back on this event, I see it as very successful. It was great to witness the great commitment of the participants and the genuine interest of the public who were there. A big thank you to Hitachi Energy who made the event possible and to LTU and Luleå Municipality for all the valuable help, says Kalle Göransson, chairman of MAkt, the Mechanical Engineering Section's activity committee that organizes the event.

Vinnarlaget LTU Rockets firar segern

Årets SM i Yukigassen avgjordes i centrala Luleå, i Södra hamn.
The thrilling final offered both tactical snow veins and ice-cold nerves, but in the end LTU Rockets could cheer as Swedish champions. Now an even bigger challenge awaits - the European Snowball Fighting Championship in Finland on April 5-6 in Kemijärvi!
- It was an incredibly fun competition and now we are super excited to go to the European Championships and win there as well, says Elias Sparrwardt, team captain for LTU Rockets.
Will it be another Swedish victory in Europe, or will our neighbours in the east throw harder? We look forward to the answer in a few weeks!
