Physics professor elected to the European Academy of Sciences
Alberto Vomiero, professor of experimental physics at Luleå University of Technology, has been elected a fellow of the prestigious European Academy of Sciences (EURASC). His election recognises many years of research on advanced materials for future energy solutions.
Vomiero’s research focuses on nanomaterials and energy technologies, particularly solutions that contribute to a more sustainable society. The academy, based in Belgium, brings together leading scientists from around the world to strengthen scientific excellence and collaboration across disciplines and borders.
"I am truly honoured to receive this recognition, and I see it as an important step toward deepening international collaboration on sustainability-driven research," says Alberto Vomiero.
Research for the energy systems of the future
Vomiero leads research on functional nanomaterials with applications in areas such as solar energy, hydrogen production, sensor technology and environmental protection. His goal is to develop technologies that combine scientific innovation with real-world impact.
"My focus has always been on developing technologies and materials that are both scientifically challenging and practically useful – particularly in the context of global sustainability. I see this election as an opportunity to highlight these topics on a European stage," he says.
