University adopts action plan for AI
Luleå University of Technology has taken an important step in its work with artificial intelligence by adopting an action plan for generative AI. The document outlines actions and initiatives in all areas of the University's activities – from education and research to administration and organisational development.
The aim is to create a common approach to AI, taking both opportunities and risks into account. The plan includes clear objectives, responsibilities, timelines, and budget, and emphasises the importance of ethical and safety perspectives. Given the rapid pace of development in AI, the action plan will be seen as a living document that is continuously updated.
The work has been led by Pro Vice-Chancellor Pär Weihed through a dedicated working group. Staff has also been given the opportunity to provide feedback on the action plan.
“AI is here to stay and affects all of us, regardless of our role. This is one of the biggest technological changes we face – perhaps comparable to the introduction of personal computers. We need to understand it and use it in a responsible and smart way,” says Pär Weihed, Pro Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
The next step will be the implementation of the proposed measures throughout the organisation.
More information and the action plan can be found on the internal staff web.
