Pussen area inaugurated on Campus Luleå
The inauguration of the Pussen area attracted students, staff and representatives from Akademiska Hus to campus on Tuesday. Despite the winter cold, the gathering was well received, offering music, s’mores by the fire and speeches presenting the new space and the ideas behind the initiative.
After a period of redevelopment, the updated entrance park is now ready as an accessible and pleasant place for students, staff and visitors. The area has been given a upgrade with fire pits, shelters, wooden decking, improved walkways, new lighting and a bridge across the pond. Together, these features create an environment that makes it easier to pause, meet and spend time outdoors directly adjacent to the campus.
“It is very exciting that we have now inaugurated a place that will be an asset to the campus - regardless of the season. The vision for Pussen has been to create an area that connects the campus more clearly and offers community, activity and rest. I would like to extend a big thank you to Luleå University of Technology and to all students who have contributed valuable input along the way. We hope you will enjoy the campus’s new meeting place”, says Marie Löwling, Property Area Manager at Akademiska Hus.
The trees and plants in the area have been preserved and complemented with species suited to the site’s conditions, strengthening both the natural atmosphere and biodiversity.
The Pussen area is now part of the daily campus environment – a place where many can find calm, inspiration and community.
