Company visit in Övertorneå - collaboration for future skills supply
Luleå University of Technology recently carried out a series of company visits in Övertorneå as part of the Norrlandsnavet initiative, with a focus on strengthening collaboration between industry and academia. The aim was to foster dialogue around skills, innovation and future development.
The visits included two local industrial companies, Släp och lastpåbyggnader SLP and Kablia AB.
At Släp och lastpåbyggnader SLP, the company presented its operations, which include the manufacture of trailers and carts, tipper body packages, semi trailers, as well as solutions for mining and rock applications, timber vehicles and bespoke constructions. The company operates a broad and technically advanced production environment with clear links to engineering expertise, product development and sustainable solutions.
The programme continued at Kablia AB, specialists in cable harness manufacturing for both copper and fibre. Kablia supplies, among other things, industrial cabling, network cabling, connection wire and box build solutions, operating in a technical environment where quality, precision and innovation are central.
The purpose of the company visits was to inspire increased collaboration with Luleå University of Technology and to highlight how companies can benefit from students’ diverse areas of expertise, including engineering, production, digitalisation and business development. Through collaborations such as project work, degree projects and placements, opportunities are created for both companies and students to grow, while strengthening the region’s long term skills supply.
The visits were carried out by Carina Jenslid and Cecilia Rackner.
