   An international delegation of around fifty senior officials from ministries of finance, industry and energy, as well as national development banks, has visited Vetenskapens hus in Luleå. The purpose of the visit was to learn how Swedish companies, academia and the public sector collaborate to achieve fossil‑free operations and greater sustainability.

2. 2 March

   Snowballs flew thick and fast between the barriers as the Swedish Snowball Fighting Championship, Yukigassen 2026, was decided at the South Harbour in Luleå on 27 and 28 February. Over two days, the ice rink was transformed into a competitive arena where student teams, staff and external teams competed for the national title.

3. 27 February

   Nazanin Emami, Professor of Machine Elements, has spent a considerable amount of time in the ski waxing trailer during the Olympic Games in Milano Cortina. In collaboration with the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC), the Swedish Ski Association and the Swedish Biathlon Federation, researchers at Luleå University of Technology are working with the waxing teams to optimise the contact between ski and snow.

   On Friday 27 February, it's time for one of the most exciting events of the year, Yukigassen 2026. This year, our own team of rectors, consisting of the vice-chancellor, heads of department, university director and vice-dean, will once again be taking part. They will step into the snow arena on saturday to compete for the honor.
