Johan Frishammar Receives the Technological Union's Tribute Award
Johan Frishammar has been awarded the Technological Union's Honourary Award. As the recipient of the award, he is presented with the Technological Union's silver medal of honour. The medal of honour is awarded to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the Technological Union's members, activities, and well-being. Johan Frishammar is a professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Program director for the Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management.
“I’ve received various academic awards in the past, but none as special as this one, since it was the students who voted for me! Our students in Industrial Engineering and Management are fantastic, and I’m truly passionate about making the programme a little better every day and ensuring that the students receive the best possible education. The rationale for the award from the Technological Union is truly heartwarming, as I genuinely believe that a great programme is more than just courses, a curriculum, and lectures; students want—and should receive—a great ‘overall experience’ of the programme that is academically cutting-edge, practically career-preparatory, and, not least, fun. That is why it is so important to involve the business community in the education, to have established a home classroom, and to ensure that the overall campus experience is top-notch. More positive changes will be implemented in the coming years”, says Johan Frishammar.
The citation reads:
“As program director, Johan has, in an outstanding way, welcomed students’ ideas and created an open, trusting dialogue with his students.
Going far beyond his role: With impressive dedication, he has taken the initiative to reach out to students to truly understand their needs and has driven concrete improvements to the programme.
A unique holistic view of the programme: With great insight, Johan has understood that the programme is so much more than courses and lectures. He sees the big picture: the business world, student life, and personal development, which together shape the engineers of the future.
Built lasting foundations: With great drive, he has worked on funding and strategic discussions to give students in the I-section the best possible conditions to shape their own future.”
Members of the Technological Union nominate candidates for the award. Johan Frishammar has been nominated by the Section for Industrial Economics. The decision to award the prize is made by the Student Union Board.
