Proud partner of Luleå Pride
Luleå University of Technology has been a partner of Luleå Pride for many years.
Why is it so important that we as a university get involved in Luleå Pride? This is what Vice-Chancellor Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn says:
– For us at Luleå University of Technology, it is of utmost importance to support Luleå Pride. It is about the equal value of all people, rights, and that all love is equally valuable. Now that we are in the middle of a social transformation in northern Sweden, we need to create attractive and inclusive communities where people want to live, which is a prerequisite for succeeding with the green transition.
Luleå Pride 2025
On Friday and Saturday, 22–23 August, you’ll find us in Stadsparken where we invite you to join us for conversations, meetings and a sense of community at our stand. It’s a great opportunity to meet both students and staff and learn more about our efforts to create an inclusive university.
On Saturday 23 August, we’ll once again take part in the Pride Parade through central Luleå – a cherished tradition at LTU. Last year, a large group of students and staff joined the march, and we’re hoping for an even bigger turnout this year!
As part of this year’s Pride programme, we are hosting a lecture with Mariana Vnuk, aimed at new students during the welcome period. Through real-life examples, she highlights how norms and privileges shape who feels included – and how we can create a culture where courage, closeness and trust are not just words, but a natural part of everyday life.
