Make your research visible
When you as a researcher want to make yourself and your research visible, you can use various tools. Here we have collected some examples of services that researchers can use to increase the visibility of research, or to document and administer the publications.
Create ORCID
ORCID, Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is a free international register where researchers can create a unique digital ID that links you, your research and your activities. It follows you throughout your career regardless of whether you change university, research area, name or city. The purpose of ORCID is to link research results to the right author, and to support researchers in managing information between different systems. Many major publishers use ORCID in their pre-publication workflows, such as Elsevier, Nature Publishing Group, Springer and Thomson Reuters. ORCID is also used by a number of different research funding bodies when applying for research grants, such as the Swedish Research Council and Fortes.

Getting an ORCID is easy. All you have to do is register on their website by filling in your name, email and choosing a password.
Create ResearcherID
ResearcherID is a researcher identifier similar to ORCID and is used to link the right publication to the right author, and to distinguish researchers with similar names. ResearcherID was originally created by Thomson Reuters, but is now owned and maintained by Clarivate Analytics. In April 2019, all existing ResearcherIDs were redirected to Publons, a platform operated by Web of Science and ORCiD. Researchers who do not have a ResearcherID need to register on Publons and import their publications from Web of Science to be eligible for a ResearcherID. Researchers who do not have any publications indexed in Web of Science but still need a ResearcherID can contact Publon via the link at the bottom.
