Academic Ceremony Week 2025

During the Academic Ceremony Week in early November, there are several events, including interesting lectures in various fields.

Inspiration Day, 4 November

A day filled with stories, ideas and people who dare to think new. Award ceremony for Innovator of the Year and Alumni of the Year, as well as lectures by this year's alumni, Anna Mossberg and Ulrika Årehed Kågström. Registration and further information.

Inaugural Lectures, 5–20 November

The new professors give lectures in their subjects. The lectures are open to the public and no registration is required.

Award Ceremony, 6 November

Luleå University of Technology acknowledges employees and students who have contributed to knowledge development, pedagogy and education over the past year.

We present the recipients of the peer-nominated teaching award, the awards for distinguished and recognised teachers, and the prize for development efforts within professional services. During the award ceremony, a number of scholarships from the Rune and Märta Ström Foundation will also be awarded.Registration and more information.

Honorary doctoral lectures, 7 November

Date and time: Friday, 7 November, 08:30-11:30
Venue: LKAB-salen, Luleå campus

Luleå University of Technology has appointed three honorary doctors for 2025: Joachim Nordin, CEO of Skellefteå Kraft Group, Petra Viklund, Head of Water and Sewage at Luleå Miljöresurs (Lumire), and Lennart Rohdin, former government special inquiry chair on rights of national minorities and minority languages in Sweden.

The day before the conferment ceremony, they will hold their honorary doctoral lectures. The lectures are open to the public and no registration is required. Program and more information. (in Swedish)

Academic ceremony, 8 November

Date and time: Saturday, 8 November, 16:00-18:00
Venue: Kulturens hus, Luleå

The Academic Ceremony includes conferment of doctoral degrees and honorary doctors, inauguration of new professors, welcoming of new adjunct professors and awarding of academic prizes.

The ceremony is followed by a banquet on campus for participants and invited guests.

University employees and extra guests for new doctor, honorary doctor, professor, adjunct professor or award winner are welcome to attend the ceremony in Kulturens hus. Registration via akademiskhogtid@ltu.se by 6 November. Program and more information.
