About CAMM
During 2008/2009, the Swedish government established 23 strategic research areas (SFO/ Strategiskt forskningsområde) throughout Sweden, aiming to develop internationally prominent research environments to solve social key issues in a long-term perspective.
In 2010 CAMM, the Center for Advanced Mining and Metallurgy, was created at the Luleå University of Technology (LTU) as the strategic research area for sustainable use of natural resources. LTU is recognized as Sweden's leading university for applied research and education in mining and metallurgy and performs research in close cooperation with the industry. CAMM has five core research areas along the mining value chain:
- exploration
- mining
- mineral processing
- metallurgy
- environment
LTU is running CAMM in collaboration with Swerim in the research area of metallurgy.
Management
The CAMM executive management team consists of director and deputy director that leads and represents CAMM in its daily businesses and outreach activities.
