About CAMM-CRM
The Centre of Advanced Mining and Metallurgy – Critical Raw Materials (CAMM-CRM) is a national research initiative hosted at Luleå University of Technology. Backed by the Swedish government’s investment of 145 million SEK, CAMM-CRM is dedicated to strengthening Sweden’s research and innovation capacity in critical and strategic raw materials.
Building on the strong foundation of CAMM (Centre of Advanced Mining and Metallurgy), CAMM-CRM focuses on the entire value chain of raw materials: from geological exploration and ore genesis to geometallurgy, mineral processing, metallurgy, extraction, recycling, and environmental responsibility.
Through collaboration between academia, industry, and society, CAMM-CRM aims to:
- Reduce Europe’s dependency on imported critical raw materials.
- Strengthen cooperation across national and international networks.
- Advance sustainable and socially responsible exploration, extraction, and recycling practices.
- Train the next generation of experts bridging geology, mineralogy, metallurgy, and processing.
Together, these efforts support Sweden’s role in the green transition by securing the knowledge and technologies needed for a resilient, resource-efficient future.
