SUN Graduate School - Luleå University of Technology
CAMM-CRM supports the SUN Graduate School (Natural Resources for Sustainability Transitions) through the co-funding of a PhD position in Ore Geology. The doctoral project focuses on metamorphic graphite mineralization in northern Sweden, with emphasis on the geological setting, mineral system genesis, and graphite characterization. The research investigates the geological evolution, metamorphic history, and mineralogical characteristics of a metamorphic graphite deposit to better understand the processes that generate high-crystallinity natural graphite.
The project contributes to a broader research initiative within SUN’s Sustainable Supply of Critical Raw Materials (CRMs) theme, which integrates ore geology, political science, and law to explore how CRMs can be extracted and recycled in sustainable and socially just ways. Within this framework, three PhD students – one in each discipline – conduct research in their respective fields while engaging in joint interdisciplinary activities that link the natural sciences, social sciences, and policy.
Reedeam Research School
CAMM-CRM supports projects on rare earth elements carried out under the umbrella of the Reedeam Research School, with additional support from LKAB.
