Swedish Mining Research & Innovation Days 2026

Swedish Mining Research & Innovation Days 2026 (SMRID 2026) will take place on 19-20 May 2026 at Kulturens hus in Luleå. The conference brings together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, present new research results, and discuss innovation and future directions within the mining and minerals sector.

The 2026 edition is organised by CAMM-CRM – Centre of Advanced Mining and Metallurgy – Critical Raw Materials at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), in collaboration with Swedish Metals & Minerals and Svemin.

Conference focus

SMRID 2026 places research and innovation at its core, with a particular focus on critical raw materials and their role in the green and digital transitions. The programme will highlight research and innovation across the entire mining and minerals value chain, including exploration, extraction, processing, recycling, sustainability, and policy.
