The goal is to decrease cost while offering a high quality of service and operational safety as well as increase customer satisfaction and attractiveness.
Project status and results
Regional railway plays a crucial role in Europe’s regions and as feeder lines for or passenger and freight traffic for the main network and has an essential function as green transport as well as connecting other public transport services (e.g., bus) and first & last mile services (e.g., bike sharing, cycling, walking or car) to travel from/to railway stations to remote locations.
To tackle these challenges and develop solutions the project has the following goals:
- Lowering CAPEX system costs,
- Lowering OPEX,
- Increasing productivity (unit costs per train kilometre), and
- Improve project key facts.
Luleå University of Technology and the Luleå Railway Research Center (JVTC) are part of the advisory board by providing feedback to developed solutions and supporting the adoption of technologies by possible implementation in networks.
