WASP Lighthouse
Objectives of the WASP Lighthouse Initiative:
- Increase WASP’s local presence at universities.
- Provide a physical or virtual space for WASP-related activities.
- Strengthen connections with faculty, fellows, and alumni.
- Organize events, seminars, and activities that align with WASP’s vision and mission.
Aims and goals of a WASP Lighthouse at Luleå University of Technology:
The primary aim of the WASP Lighthouse at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) is to strengthen WASP’s regional presence in northern Sweden by establishing a dedicated WASP node in Norrbotten. This node will serve as a strategic hub for promoting cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and autonomous systems, while acting as a bridge between academia, industry, and society. The Lighthouse will foster interdisciplinary collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support innovative research aligned with WASP’s core mission. The initiative will leverage LTU’s strong research groups, Machine Learning (ML) led by Prof. Marcus Liwicki and Robotics and AI (RAI) led by Prof. George Nikolakopoulos, to enhance scientific excellence and contribute meaningfully to Sweden’s AI ecosystem. It will also provide a platform for engagement with regional actors, alumni, and industry stakeholders, thereby amplifying the impact of WASP both locally and nationally.
Upcoming events
