Generating green functionalized magnetic microparticle depressants for enhancing Li battery recycling process
Researchers: Rihan Efendi and Saeed Chehreh Chelgani
The question to be addressed in this project is: is it possible to enhance the recovery of Li-bearing compounds through froth flotation with eco-friendly polymers (depressants)? As an experimental project, we are going to synthesize new biodegradable materials for use in flotation separation will be a key to recycling valuable materials from spent lithium-ion batteries (LiBs). One of the main challenges throughout recycling LiBs is the separation of graphite from Li-bearing materials. The main goal of this project is to conduct a robust study on the design and synthesis of new green biodegradable depressants (enhance hydrophilicity) to improve the flotation separation efficiency of Li-bearings from graphite.
Sustainability aspects
Responsible management of chemicals and waste using green flotation reagents; improving separation efficiency; Enhancing recycling valuable materials; decreasing environmental issues.
