WISE - Research Platforms and Facilites
Luleå University of Technology hosts several research and technology platforms (RTP) and facilities within the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE). Together, these environments provide advanced infrastructure, analytical capabilities and expertise for research and innovation in sustainable materials, manufacturing processes and future technologies.
WiseEST
WiseEST is a joint research technology platform between Luleå University of Technology and Uppsala University, funded by WISE - Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability. World-class and versatile tribological testing facilities and extensive and advanced materials analysis capabilities, combined with the excellence and experience of tribology experts from two leading universities in tribology
WISE ACT@LUMIA
This RTP aims at complementing the LUMIA materials research infrastructure at LTU with several advanced techniques, especially for elemental and structural analysis. The LUMIA facility will offer valuable capabilities in the environment of green technologies emerging in northern Sweden, where LTU is expected to play an important role for R/D and competence supply. The equipment includes a plasmaFIB-SEM system (Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy) and an instrument for 3D/4D spectral/dynamic X-ray computed tomography (XCT).
Other Wallenberg-Funded Research Programmes
WASP is Sweden’s largest research programme in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software. The programme strengthens Sweden’s international position in future digital technologies through long-term research, education, capacity building and collaboration between academia and industry.
