About our research infrastructure
Research infrastructures at Luleå University of Technology are a collective term for all equipment, facilities, resources, instruments, tools and ICT infrastructure (computer hardware, software and communication tools) and associated services that researchers use to conduct research in their respective fields.
Different levels of research infrastructure
Luleå University of Technology has research infrastructures at several levels:
- Departmental level - laboratories, equipment and instruments used in daily research, called departmental research infrastructures. LTU has an extensive research facilities with a large number of research equipment and instruments distributed across university's five departments. - National and international level - infrastructures where LTU participates as part of larger collaborations or research networks. More information is available here.
Guidelines for research infrastructure
LTU has developed guidelines to ensure research infrastructure is managed in a consistent and sustainable way. These guidelines provide support to staff and set out principles for how research infrastructure should be developed, used and made available.

Vice-Chancellor's Council for Research Infrastructure
LTU also has a special Vice-Chacellor's Council for Research Infrastructure, which works strategically with issues in the area and advises the Vice-Chancellor. Read more about the council's members and tasks below:
