VINKLA - Road processes in natural and cultural landscapes
When assessing natural and cultural values together with other aspects in road planning processes, it has to deal with many actors and values together with a large amount of knowledge bases of widely differing types and formats. All of this must be integrated into holistic assessments at various stages from feasibility study to work plan to operational phase and sometimes also in follow-up contexts.
In order for infrastructure planning to be developed in a broader societal planning context integrated with municipal and regional planning, effective coordination at the authority level is needed, something that is lacking today. For the management of all this information, knowledge and values, there is a great need for supporting methodology.
The purpose of this project is to investigate and develop knowledge about a more efficient planning process where natural and cultural values are given appropriate treatment by being integrated into the entire road planning process at all levels from pre-study to follow-up and experience feedback. On this basis, methods will be proposed to support this type of qualitative values in road planning processes.
