Architecture and design students contribute to the Venice Architecture Biennale

Arkitektur- och designstudenters arbeten från Luleå tekniska universitet visas på den internationella arkitekturutställningen vid biennalen i Venedig 2023.

“It is the first time that Luleå University of Technology is invited to contribute to such an event and only a selected number of architecture schools in Scandinavia and the rest of the World are taking part each year” says Agatino Rizzo, professor of architecture at Luleå University of Technology.

The launch event was held on May 18th at Centro Studi e Documentazione della Cultura Armena in Venice with guests ranging from Patrik Schumacher, Zaha Hadid Architects, to Tom Kovac, City X Venice and RMIT University in Melbourne.

Luleå University of Technology`s “Time Capsule” is shown alongside the work of architecture students from the USA, Brazil, Italy, Singapore, and so forth in the official collateral event titled “Students as Researchers: Creative Practice and University Education” curated by New York Tech.

Over the last 4 months, architecture and design students, supervised by Agatino Rizzo, Andrea Luciani, Åsa Wikberg-Nilsson, Max Spett, and Anders Berglund, produced an artifact that showcases coursework done by the students in the architectural and industrial design engineering programmes at LTU. The theme of the work is “Co-designing the green energy transition in Sweden” and the courses went in parallel with an ongoing research project funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.
