Efficient production of biomethane from wood by pressurized anaerobic digestion and upgrading by DDR zeolite membranes
Project team: Io Antonopoulou, Christakopoulos Paul, Leonidas Matsakas, Omprakash Sarkar, Ulrika Rova
Partners: Liang Yu (project Leader), Chemical Technology, SBN, LTU; RISE Processum
Duration: 2021-2022
Funded by Bio4Energy
The project combines the use of a novel and highly available feedstock (i.e. forest harvesting residues), in pressurized reactors for anaerobic digestion in combination with ultrastable enzymes that capture in situ the generated CO2 for enhanced methane in combination with a novel single stage zeolite membrane process to produce biomethane at very low electricity consumption and low cost.
